How to Make a Hot Dog

Hot Dog became famous food all over the world. It is very tasty and colourful food. So most of the children are like this as their breakfast. Common hot dog sausage ingredients include:

  • Meat trimmings and fat, e.g. mechanically separated meat, pink slime, meat slurry
  • Flavourings, such as salt, garlic, and paprika

Ingredients

  • 5 pounds fully pastured/grass-fed beef (either ground by your butcher or in cubes for you to grind at home)
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 2 tablespoons mustard powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Pinch of celery seed
  • ½ teaspoon coriander
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • Just over 1 cup ice-cold water
  • Sheep casings

Make the Filling

  • Step 01 – In a food blender, puree the onion, garlic, coriander, marjoram, mace, mustard seed, and paprika. Add pepper, egg white, sugar, salt, and milk and combine well.
  • Step 02 – Then, grind the pork, beef, and fat cubes through the fine blade. Combine the above three and grind them together.
  • Step 03 – In a large pot, add pureed seasonings with the meat and mix. 
  •  Step 04 – Refrigerate the mixture for 30 minutes, and then mix it again. Set aside while you prepare the casing.

Stuff the Casings.

  • Step 01 – Stuff the casings with the meat mixture and twist them off into 6-inch links. Parboil the links in simmering water for 20 minutes.
  • Step 02 – Place the ​franks in a bowl of ice water and chill. Remove, pat dry, and refrigerate. You can refrigerate them for 1 week for future use.

Hot dogs aren’t as difficult to make as you might think. After all, frankfurters are nothing more than ground meat with seasonings. In just an hour, you can whip up some delicious frankfurters in your kitchen. The great thing about making your own hot dogs is that you can control what goes into them.
